You caught me. I told BL that as long as my mom and grandma are cooking (and I'm in town or within a reasonable driving distance) then I am not. Maybe when I move or something I will cook, but I might just go to The Maven's crib and grub. Just for proof, of course.

I cooked the Mac & Cheese (my staple) and I made mashed sweet potatoes. We usually just do candied yams so we got to arguing about what to call them. I said mashed sweet potatoes. My grandma said sweet potato pudding, then my auntie says her second husband's mom used to make that and she called it sweet potato poon. (Um wth, auntie, even if that's the name I'm not calling it that).
Whatever, it was off the chain and I'm eating some right now.
I might do the greens next year. I'm trying to work myself up to a full meal, then y'all can stop by my crib for leftovers. :)
lol. WOW. This whole video thing is pretty cool Maven. Can someone who knows how to cook give some BBG lessons?? hook a sistah up! Maven, I feel your pain on the "haters" out there. In my case people automatically assume either 1) I naturally should be able to throw down in the kitchen just BECAUSE I'm from the south or 2) I can't cook a thing because I'm too much of a princess. First of all, just because I'm from the south doesn't mean i spent all my time in the kitchen learning the creole cuisine LOL! daaamn. i was doing more fun things like drinking hand grenades on bourbon and shakin' it in the house of blues on Thursday nights... Why all the pressure to be a freakin' cook??! Secondly, who said fly girls can't cook? I mean...I don't..but that doesnt mean i "can't". I just choose to spend my time doing other things....right Black Lily?!
And as you probably already guessed, I did NOT cook on t-day and instead spent the evening at the bf's house. Although tomorrow, i plan on cooking gumbo! ok yes..thats the only real southern dish i cook....i can't wait!
oh wait..and Kis' comment about "I don't COOK thanksgiving dinner" reminded me of Boogie's rants about "not cooking breakfast"..... I DON'T cook breakfast... I DON'T!

1. Austyn, i'mma hate just a tad longer. i'm sorry, ma, but i know you can get half these items @ the honey-baked ham store. i know this b/c my mom sends me every year to pick up the small swine. ;)
2. i can cook. i like to cook. however, i DO NOT enjoy the pressure of cooking for multitudes on THE biggest eating day of the year. i'm REAL cool on that. so, like most of you, we can add breakfast to the list of items "i don't cook."
3. if Lady O ain't cookin' you KNOW i ain't. i feel confirmed in my convictions.

@ kis, moms says once you have some of Mr.'s babies, you'll be all up and through that kitchen. not that it was really ever up for consideration. he IS a bruh from the south...they DON'T play when it comes to food. you know moms keeps it real, too.
