And I've got food for thought. I had an interesting discussion with Diva Feminist & Black Lilly (separate convos) this weekend about nice vs. good. Are you a nice person? Are you a good person?
We decided that almost everyone we know are good people...but we aren't all nice.
Enter the Nice Meter.
On a scale of 1 (downright evil) to 10 (sweet as pie), how nice are you? And what is niceness to you?
(There was some debate about whether there should be a B.S. meter too...but that is for another post)
I'm putting myself at a 5.

See, what you've just done was open up a whole mess of worms including, but not limited to, subjectivity, comparison, and relativism.
That being said, I AM going to jump on the comparison/relativism boat and say that if Kis is a 5 (which by the way is a FANTASTIC number)...
Then I am a 7.
Of course, we have to decide on what we mean by nice...do we mean pleasant, agreeable, infrequently sarcastic, sincere, funny, forgiving, polite... i mean what are we talking about????
but for the most part, no matter what we are talking about, if Kis is a 5 then I'm a 7. lol =)

Kis, definitely not a 5...maybe a 3.5-4.2...ok, you are nice to your friends, but not to strangers. hell, i don't care...i'll give you a 5.

@Boogie ummm you are supposed to evaluate YOURSELF, trick! And yes you ARE a 2... though you have your moments of 3 and 4-ness.
I still think my 7ness stands...I was going to give me a 6 at first but i am hella indulgent most times... now if we were going on just thoughts i have about situations, people, and the like... i would be waaaaay closer to a 4.. but i tend not to voice most or any of the mean stuff... and I'm pretty sweet in actions... so
7 if we mean how we behave
4 if all the mean stuff i think about counts ( I can get a little vindictive! lol)
um....no comment on Maven's 7. But I laughed out loud when I read it...

hmm....well i think dumb people are dumb and i tell them that (3) but i am trying to do a better job of telling them that NICELY (5)....
Hell naw, I'm not nice. I'm not good either. None is good, no not one. I do good things and I'm nice to well behaved children and pretty people without a chip on their shoulder.
If someone had to describe me they'd say I was fun, funny, cool as hell and maybe even compassionate, but nice... not-at-all, so I'll give myself a 3. (I'm not evil, damn).
Um...if T is a 3, I'll eat my shorts....
I'm going to try to throw something serious into the Common Room soon but this has been hilarious!

This is interesting to think about, esp the thoughts vs. actions piece. I've become more ok with my meanness lately.
